Mare Nostrum Cup Easter

One of Spain's largest international youth tournaments, held in Salou at Easter and gathering more than 10,000 boys and girls every year. Matches are played at venues such as the 12-pitch Esportiu Futbol Salou complex, with hotels and apartments close to the pitches and the sea. The organiser has run football events in Spain and abroad for more than 20 years.

Teams start in groups: group winners go to the Final Stage, runners-up to the Silver Stage, and the other teams play a consolation match. The top four of each age category receive cups, the other teams commemorative plaques, and every player a medal.

Nearby: the beaches and promenades of Salou, PortAventura, and Roman Tarragona with its amphitheatre and aqueduct.

Applications close 30 days before the tournament starts. Accommodation and meals are paid 40% at least 90 days before the tournament and the balance at least 60 days before the tournament. Cancelling costs 20% of the accommodation and meals from 180 days before the start, 50% from 60 days and 100% from 30 days. The registration fee is not refundable.

• 4-star hotel: players €349 in a triple room, €388 in a double room, €481 in a single room; accompanying adults €279 in a triple room, €318 in a double room, €411 in a single room. Extra night €79.

• 3-star hotel: players €309 in a triple room, €336 in a double room, €426 in a single room; accompanying adults €257 in a triple room, €284 in a double room, €374 in a single room. Extra night €77.

Nearest airport: Barcelona El Prat airport. Airport transfer about €30 per person each way. Transfers between the hotel and the pitches about €40 per person. No registration fee for teams staying in the tournament hotels.
