IberCup Christmas

The Christmas edition of IberCup, one of the best-known youth football brands in the world, played in Cascais on the Atlantic coast near Lisbon. Since its first editions it has attracted strong clubs from Portugal, Spain, Brazil, Australia and many other countries, in a mild winter climate.

Teams play in groups of four or five. The top two of each group go on to the Gold stage, third and fourth to the Silver stage; the final rounds are knockouts, decided on penalties if level. Every player receives a diploma and a medal, the best players of each age group get individual awards, and trophies go to the leading teams.

In and around Cascais: the old town and Cidadela, Boca do Inferno, Praia da Rainha and Cabo da Roca, Europe's westernmost point.

Applications close 90 days before the tournament starts. Accommodation and meals are paid 70% at least 90 days before the tournament and the balance at least 45 days before the tournament. Cancelling costs 50% of the accommodation and meals from 90 days before the start and 100% from 45 days. The registration fee is not refundable.

Full board, price per person for 5 nights:

• 3-star hotel: players €750 in a triple room, €1000 in a double room, €1250 in a single room; accompanying adults €650 in a triple room, €900 in a double room, €1150 in a single room. Extra night €100.

Teams stay in the hotels the organiser offers. Teams arrive the day before the first match. Nearest airport: Lisboa Humberto Delgado airport. Airport transfer about €25 per person each way. Registration fee per team for visiting teams: €3000.
